Official Server & Website Backup Policy

1. Backup Policy: No Guarantee of Data Retention

Welcome to the official APT COM Web Hosting Backup Policy page. The APT COM Clean Backup Policy defines clear standards for website and server data protection, file safety, and data retention.

As stated in this Backup Policy, any automated copy or courtesy snapshot performed by APT COM — whether automated, courtesy, or compliance-related — is provided on a best-effort basis only and does not constitute a guarantee of data availability, integrity, or recoverability. The Customer’s own independent data copy, stored outside of APT COM’s infrastructure, is the only reliable protection against data loss.

2. Backup Availability & Retention (5-Day / 3 GB Rule)

APT COM does not provide redundant or mirrored storage archives. Courtesy snapshots may be performed at our discretion, but they are not guaranteed under our standard Backup Policy. Any backup created by APT COM is considered an additional courtesy service and does not replace the customer’s own responsibility for file safety.

• Retention Window: System snapshots are retained for a maximum of 5 days. Older files are automatically overwritten. Customers must download and store their data copies before the overwrite period if they wish to keep a copy.
• Account Size Limit: Automatic courtesy copies are not available for accounts exceeding 3 GB in size.
• Self-Service Backups: Customers may generate and download their own full or partial file and database archives at any time using cPanel Backup Wizard or SSH/Shell access.

3. Internal Compliance Archive

Separately from any courtesy or automated copies described above, APT COM retains one internal snapshot per month, covering website files and databases only (email data is not included), for internal record-keeping purposes only. This compliance copy exists solely so that APT COM can respond to lawful requests or queries from the Government of Bangladesh or other authorized law enforcement or regulatory bodies, in accordance with applicable law. This internal compliance archive:

• Is not a customer-facing backup service and is not available for customer-requested restoration, download, or recovery under any circumstances.
• Does not replace, supplement, or extend the customer’s own data preservation responsibility described in this Backup Policy.
• Is retained and accessed strictly in accordance with APT COM’s Privacy Policy and applicable Bangladeshi law, and will only be disclosed pursuant to a valid legal or government request.
• May be deleted, overwritten, or retained longer than the general 5-day retention period at APT COM’s sole discretion, without notice to the Customer.

4. Account Expiry & Termination

If an account is not renewed on time or payment fails for any reason, hosting services, email data, and stored files (including courtesy copies) may be permanently deleted without notice. Once an account is expired or terminated, APT COM does not guarantee data restoration.

If a user or reseller manually terminates an account, system restoration may not be possible. In rare cases, a special recovery request can be submitted to the data center, which may involve additional charges, is entirely at APT COM’s discretion, and is not guaranteed to succeed under our operational Backup Policy.

5. Customer Responsibility & Liability Cap

Maintaining secure and up-to-date copies of your website, email, and hosting data is solely the customer’s responsibility, regardless of the cause of data loss, including disasters or events beyond APT COM’s control. APT COM assumes no liability for:

• Lost, corrupted, or deleted files.
• Failed archive processes or incomplete data copies.
• Data integrity issues of any kind.
• Data loss resulting from a disaster, outage, cyberattack, or any event beyond APT COM’s reasonable control.
• Expired or terminated accounts.

In no event shall APT COM’s liability arising from any data recovery matter exceed the fees paid by the Customer for the affected Service in the preceding billing period, and APT COM shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including lost revenue or business interruption, arising from data loss.

6. Clean Backup Best Practice (3-2-1 Backup Rule)

A comprehensive backup strategy ensures data security, business continuity, and operational stability. APT COM strongly recommends that all customers follow the industry-standard 3-2-1 Backup Rule:

• Create Regular Data Copies: Generate weekly or monthly full backups via cPanel’s Backup Wizard (plus Jetpack/UpdraftPlus for WordPress sites).
• Store Off-Site: Download and store file archives off-site on your local computer and encrypted cloud storage (Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, or S3).
• Verify Recovery Files: Periodically test your downloaded .tar.gz and .sql archives to verify integrity.
• Maintain Active Account Status: Renew hosting services before the invoice due date to prevent automated suspension or purge.

7. APT COM ক্লিন ব্যাকআপ পলিসি (বাংলা ভার্সন)

APT COM-এর ক্লিন ব্যাকআপ পলিসির মূল উদ্দেশ্য হলো ওয়েবসাইট ও সার্ভার ডেটা সুরক্ষা, ডেটা কপি ম্যানেজমেন্ট এবং রিটেনশন সংক্রান্ত নিয়মাবলী স্পষ্ট করা। এই পলিসির মাধ্যমে আমাদের সিস্টেমের ব্যাকআপ ব্যবস্থার সীমাবদ্ধতা এবং গ্রাহকের দায়িত্বসমূহ বিস্তারিত জানানো হলো।

৭.১ ব্যাকআপের প্রাপ্যতা ও সীমাবদ্ধতা (Backup Limitations)

• সাইজ লিমিট: যেসব অ্যাকাউন্টের সাইজ ৩ জিবি (3 GB) অতিক্রম করবে, সেগুলোর জন্য কোনো অটোমেটিক ডেটা কপি তৈরি হবে না।
• রিটেনশন পিরিয়ড: ব্যাকআপ ফাইল সর্বোচ্চ ৫ দিন পর্যন্ত সার্ভারে সংরক্ষিত থাকে। এর পর সেটি নতুন ফাইল দ্বারা স্বয়ংক্রিয়ভাবে ওভাররাইট (Overwrite) হয়ে যায়।
• ম্যানুয়াল ব্যাকআপ: ৩ জিবির চেয়ে বড় অ্যাকাউন্টের ক্ষেত্রে গ্রাহককে cPanel অথবা SSH/Shell Access ব্যবহার করে নিজ দায়িত্বে ব্যাকআপ তৈরি ও ডাউনলোড করে নিতে হবে।

৭.২ অভ্যন্তরীণ কমপ্লায়েন্স ব্যাকআপ (Internal Compliance Backup)

সৌজন্যমূলক বা অটোমেটিক সিস্টেম কপি থেকে সম্পূর্ণ আলাদাভাবে, APT COM প্রতি মাসে একটি ইন্টারনাল ডেটা স্ন্যাপশট রাখে (শুধুমাত্র ওয়েবসাইট ফাইলস ও ডেটাবেসের জন্য; ইমেইল ডেটা এর অন্তর্ভুক্ত নয়), যাতে বাংলাদেশ সরকার বা আইনসম্মত কর্তৃপক্ষ কোনো তথ্য চাইলে প্রযোজ্য আইন অনুযায়ী জবাব দেওয়া যায়। এটি গ্রাহকের জন্য কোনো রিকভারি সার্ভিস নয় এবং গ্রাহক এখান থেকে restore বা download চাইতে পারবেন না।

৭.৩ অ্যাকাউন্ট এক্সপায়ার ও টার্মিনেশন

বিলিং সাইকেল শেষ হওয়ার পর অ্যাকাউন্ট রিনিউ করা না হলে হোস্টিং, ইমেইল এবং ব্যাকআপ ডেটা স্থায়ীভাবে মুছে ফেলা হতে পারে। কোনো ইউজার বা রিসেলার নিজে থেকে অ্যাকাউন্ট “Terminate” করলে ডেটা পুনরুদ্ধার করা সম্ভব নাও হতে পারে।

৭.৪ গ্রাহকের দায়িত্ব ও বেস্ট প্র্যাকটিস

• নিয়মিত ব্যাকআপ: cPanel-এর ‘Backup Wizard’ ব্যবহার করে নিয়মিত ফুল বা পার্শিয়াল ব্যাকআপ তৈরি করুন।
• অফসাইট স্টোরেজ: ফাইল কপিটি আপনার লোকাল কম্পিউটার বা ক্লাউড স্টোরেজে (Google Drive, Dropbox ইত্যাদি) ডাউনলোড করে রাখুন।
• ফাইল ভেরিফিকেশন ও অ্যাক্টিভ স্ট্যাটাস: ডাউনলোড করা রিকভারি ফাইলটি ঠিকঠাক কাজ করছে কিনা পরীক্ষা করুন এবং সময়মতো বিল পরিশোধ করে অ্যাকাউন্ট সচল রাখুন।
